About

Catherine Collier is an interdisciplinary artist working in San Antonio, Texas. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with concentration in photography and a minor in Art History and Criticism at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2023. During her time in the art program, Catherine has worked as a darkroom aide under Blair Bodden and as a graphic designer for Student Activities.

Her work explores the emotional, bodily, and intellectual experience of womanhood and its transfiguration through time. Her focus lies on visualising the radical contrast between male and female socialisation. Vulnerability is key to the success of her pieces where she aims to advocate and link women burdened with constructed beauty standards and misogynist notions. Being a first generation immigrant from Honduras, Catherine’s work sheds light on estrangement from her homeland and disconnection from her American peers.

Since her first group exhibit at the Aztec Theatre in 2018, Catherine has participated in multiple shows in San Antonio including UTSA’s COLFA showcase in 2021, Photographers Pop-Up at Southtown Art Gallery, and Malinche at the San Antonio Museum of Art in 2022.

Catherine has held a Creative Designer position at Red Rattler Creative since 2021, worked as a portrait photographer and a Creative Arts Intern for Alamo Colleges during 2018-2019. She also gained marketing experience while working as a marketing coordinator for local non-profits and big name brands like Dell and Youtube.
